CardioHeredia was created in January 2020, under the leadership of Dr. Fausto Heredia Villacreses, cardiologist, subspecialist in Interventional Cardiology, Hemodynamics and General Angiology, and specialist in Peripheral. He is a Proctor in pathologies of Aorta, Peripheral Arterial and MICRA pacemaker (Medtronic – EOS), catapulting himself in 2022 as the first Ecuadorian doctor to successfully place the first MICRA transcatheter pacemaker implant without wires, the smallest in the world.

Heredia studied General Medicine at the Catholic University of Santiago de Guayaquil. Subsequently, he settled in Buenos Aires – Argentina, in order to continue his academic training at the Favaloro Foundation University Hospital, College of Interventional Cardioangiologists (CACI), and University of Buenos Aires (UBA), obtaining certifications as a Clinical Cardiologist, Specialist in Interventional Cardiology, General Angiology and Hemodynamics, Specialist in Peripheral and Structural Pathologies, during 2012 and 2017. He also completed a Fellowship in Interventional Cardioangiology, General Angiology and Hemodynamics.

Focused on offering advanced techniques to benefit the cardiovascular health of his patients, Heredia has actively participated in a number of national and international conferences, such as: Coronary and Renal Denervation Summit in Miami, Florida USA (2018); Fundación Universitaria de Ciencias de la Salud – FUCS, live case demonstration; IV Endovascular Treatment Conference – Medtronic Arterial and Peripheral Pathology at FUCS – San José Hospital, Bogotá – Colombia (2017); Argentine Federation of Cardiology (2016); XXXIII National Congress of Cardiology “Long-Term Evolution of Endovascular Treatment in Severe Symptomatic Aortic Valve Stenosis”, Rosario – Argentina (2015); and Live Case Presentation as second operator at SOLACI (2013), Favaloro Foundation, with the topic: Coronary angioplasty in a transplant patient.

He is Speaker and Proctor of Vascular Penumbra, CATRX 6, CATRX 8, Penumbra Indigo System. He is also current Secretary of the Cardiac Intervention Council of the Inter-American Society of Cardiology (SIAC).

As a research physician, he has stood out in the presentation of scientific articles and cases, including: “CURB-65 as a predictor of severe disease in patients with SARS-CoV-2 infection (COVID-19): COVID-EC Study”, in the Revista Española; Poster “Coarctation of the Aorta in a pregnant patient”, at the Hospital Clínica Panamericana during the Congress of the Society of Radiology and Imaging; Poster “Closure of the Left Atrial Appendage by Endovascular Route in Patients with Non-Valvular Atrial Fibrillation, at the XXXIV National Congress of Cardiology; and “Evolution of the experience with aortic valve replacement – TAVR”, in the Argentine Journal of Interventional Cardioangiology, in November 2016.

In addition, he is the developer of a world-renowned technique called Controlled Dissection, used for the treatment of obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (2019). Currently, he is an editorialist for the JACC Journal (Journals of The American College of Cardiology) in Spanish.

He has extensive work experience in the public and private sectors, standing out as Provincial Coordinator of Health Insurance Benefits of Guayas in 2017, the year in which he returned to Guayaquil – Ecuador to put at the service of his country all the knowledge acquired in Buenos Aires – Argentina. During the same period, he opened the Cardiology service of the General Hospital of the North of Guayaquil “Los Ceibos” and, later, he was appointed Medical Director of said healthcare facility.

In 2018, he assumed the position of Medical Director of the Letamendi Specialty Center. During that same period, he was appointed Medical Director of the “Efrén Jurado López” Day Hospital, until 2019.

Currently, he is a doctor on the staff of Cardioangiology, Interventional Cardiology, Hemodynamics and General Angiology, and a specialist in Peripheral Medicine at the Hospital Clínica Guayaquil, Hospital Clínica Alcívar, Hospital Clínica San Francisco, UEES Clinic and Clínica Kennedy.
